Operator Bwin Extends Partnerships With Five German Football Teams
Gambling operator Bwin has extended its partnerships with five German football teams.
The company, which is owned by Entain, extended its agreements with five German Bundesliga football clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Union Berlin, Cologne, St Pauli, and Dynamo Dresden. As part of the extension, the partnerships will run for a further three seasons until the end of 2023/24 and sees Bwin act as each of the team’s exclusive betting partner.
According to SBC News, the above partnerships follow Bwin’s sports betting partnership with the German Football League (DFB), which includes an advertising partnership with the DFB-Pokal, advertising rights for all national teams until December 2022, and for the Women’sBundesliga and 3. Liga until summer 2022.
Alexander Wehrle, the Managing Director of FC Cologne, said in a statement: “We’re delighted to have Bwin as a powerful brand at our side as a betting operator for the next three years. Working together, we’ve already developed exciting features for our fans such as FC Cologne Matchday Tip and betting odds integration on our platforms, and will continue on this successful path together.”
Stephan Hellmann, the Managing Director of Digital Europe at Entain, added: “It’s a great honour for us to continue our long-term partnership with these long-standing clubs. Our sponsorships underline the importance of the fans and the passion for football. Authenticity is a top priority for Bwin, just as it is for our five partner clubs. We’re therefore delighted to be maintaining our close partnership with them over the next three years.”
Carsten Cramer, the Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund, added: “We’d like to thank Bwin for placing their trust in us. We still believe that the two brands are an excellent match. Since we’re always interested in long-term partnerships, it’s only logical to continue our existing collaboration.”
Paris Saint-Germain Signs Three-Year Partnership With Plabetr
Speaking on football club partnership, French team Paris Saint-Germain has signed a three-year partnership with operator Playbetr.
Under this partnership, Playbetr has been named the official Latin American betting partner of the club. CasinoBeats reports that they benefit from the digital overlay technology at the Parc des Princes stadium, technology that localised the adverts displayed on LED screens around the pitch by adapting messages to the broadcaster’s audience, in this case, Latin America.
In addition to the above, Playbetr will be given access to Paris Saint-Germain’s digital platforms and will provide its customers with enhanced odds for matches featuring the football team. It will also collaborate on special promotions and offer VIP seats, meet-and-greet sessions, signed shirts and other memorabilia, and more.
Marc Armstrong, the Chief Partnerships Officer at Paris Saint-Germain, said in a statement: “We are delighted to welcome Playbetr to the Paris Saint-Germain family, as the club’s first-ever official Latin American betting partner. We believe that Playbetr will be an ideal partner for the club, and together we will be able to reach and further engage with our fast-growing fan base in Latin America. The unique appeal of Paris Saint-Germain and its players in the region makes the club the perfect platform for Playbetr to develop their brand.”
Marvin Jones, the Chief Marketing Officer at Playbetr, added: “We are proud to announce our partnership with the most elite and exciting football club in the world. In football, like in betting, performance is primordial. Paris Saint-Germain has built a solid reputation of excellence both on and off the field, and we look forward to extending the brand’s influence even further across the globe.”
The above news comes amidst the UK government’s review of the Gambling Act 2005. MPs are expected to produce a white paper later this year on the outcome of the review, and National Lottery operator Camelot has already increased the minimum age to play lottery products to 18 as an outcome of the review.
Meanwhile, recent reports have suggested that sports shirt sponsorships will be banned, alongside the banning of VIP schemes and the introduction of a maximum £2 stake limit on online slots, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
